The Government Relations Institute of Canada is committed to respecting the personal privacy of members and individuals who visit our Web site. This page summarizes the privacy policy and practices of GRIC’s Web site.

Use, collection and retention of Web Site user information

GRIC does not automatically gather any personal information from you, such as your name, phone number, e-mail or street address during your visit to its Web site. This information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily, usually through contacting us via e-mail, or registering in a secure portion of the site.

All personal information you do provide is protected under the federal Privacy Act. This means that, at the point of collection, you will be informed that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected and that you have a right of access to the information.

GRIC uses software that receives and records the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of computers that have connected with its Web site. In such instances, GRIC makes no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting its site.

Use of Cookies

GRIC does not regularly use "cookies" to track how visitors use its Web site. Whenever we enable "cookies" to facilitate your transactions, we will first inform you. (Note: Cookies are files that a Web site can place on your hard drive, without your knowledge, to monitor your use of that site.)

Visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except GRIC personnel who need the information, e.g., to respond to a request. We do not use the information to create individual profiles, nor do we disclose this information to anyone outside our current membership.
